
Segment 3 will start in west from Daugavgrīvas Street up to the administrative border of Riga city. This option crosses the southern part of the former Spilve airfield and areas to the west of the airfield that are scarcely built up.
Length: 5.4 – 5.6 km.
Segment 4 lies outside Riga city - in the territory of Babīte and Jūrmala municipalities. It connects the NTC to Riga bypass (A5) and Riga – Ventspils motorway (A10).
Length: 8.2 – 10.0 km.
Option I
According to Option I the Northern Corridor will start from the junction of A5 and A10 motorways. According to this option the junction will have to be fully reconstructed. Route goes on the existing A10 motorway up to the junction with Jūrmala bypass. From the junction of A5 and A10 motorways route goes on the existing A5 up to the turn to Babīte. Then route turns north, crosses a small forest patch and agricultural field. From Saulīšciems the corridor goes parallel to Hapaka ditch, across the road to Vārnukrogs and all the way to the western border of Riga city parallel to the local road, along the borders of Babīte and Jūrmala municipalities. Then the route continues through forest strip of Bolderāja Dune and Spilve meadows. It crosses the Spilve meadows, goes between Liepezeri village of Babīte municipality and Kronmaņi village of Kleisti municipality. Then the route goes along the Rātsupītes Street, across Kleisti Street and through the south part of Spilve meadows. From there the route crosses Bolderāja railway line, Rātsupe garden area, Spilve ditch, southern part of Spilve airfield and connects to Daugavgrīvas Street.
Alternative I of the Northern Corridor has several connections. One of them is connection to Jūrmala bypass, the second – to Babīte, third – to the future Coastal motorway, fourth - to Kleistu Street and finally to Daugavgrīvas Street where a tunnel is built for entry to and exit from the route.
Option II
According to Option I the Northern Corridor will start from the junction of A5 and A10 motorways. First segments of this route are the same as in Option I. However, a new section of the road is required to provide connection to Rīga – Ventspils motorway A10 at the junction with Jūrmala bypass. The additional section shall start at the junction of A10 and Jūrmala bypass, continue through Jūrmala towards north-east to the railway line. A tunnel will provide crossing of railway line. After railway line the route will turn east, go through forest and between the abandoned waste disposal site and the peat fields. Then it will go across several forest patches and agriculture fields and will connect to the main route. The main route stretches along the forest in the north-east direction, in some places along the forest and borders of the agricultural lands, then crosses the road to Vārnukrogs and continues all the way to the border of Riga. In Riga the route goes between Bolderāja Dune forest and Spilve meadows. The stretches through Spilve meadows, crosses Hapaka ditch and Kleistu Street.
The final segment of the route crosses Bolderāja railway line, Rātsupes gardens, Spilve ditch, southern part of the Spilve airfield and finally connects to Daugavgrīvas Street. Option II has 5 connections. Junction of A10 and Jūrmala bypass, connection to A5 (Babīte), connection to the future Coastal motorway, Kleistu Street and Daugavgrīvas Street.
